Getting Started

How do I create my first habit?

Tap the "+" button on the Today screen, choose a name, pick an emoji and color, and set your frequency. That's it! Your habit will appear on the Today screen ready to track.

What's the difference between daily and weekly habits?

Daily habits are for things you want to do every day (drink water, meditate). Weekly habits let you set a target number per week (exercise 3x/week) with flexible scheduling.

Do I need to create an account?

No! MyDailyTally works immediately with no sign-up required. All your data stays on your device.

Streaks & Forgiveness

How does forgiveness mode work?

When you miss a day, tap "Skip" instead of marking incomplete. Choose your reason (sick, travel, rest day) and your streak continues. Each habit can have up to 3 forgiveness days per month.

What's the difference between "Skip" and leaving it blank?

Skip: Preserves your streak (counts as forgiveness). Blank: Breaks your streak but keeps historical data. Use Skip when you have a good reason to miss.

Can I change forgiveness settings for each habit?

Yes! Each habit has its own forgiveness settings. Some habits might be strict (no forgiveness), others more flexible (3 skips per month).

Intermittent Fasting

What fasting protocols are supported?

16:8, 18:6, 20:4, OMAD (One Meal A Day), and custom protocols. You can also create your own with any fasting/eating window combination.

What are the fasting zones?

Fed State (0-4h): Digesting food
Fat Burning (4-12h): Switching to fat for fuel
Ketosis (12-18h): Producing ketones
Deep Ketosis (18h+): Peak fat burning

Can I adjust my fasting start time?

Yes! If you forgot to start your timer, tap the fasting card and use "Adjust Start Time" to backdate when you actually started fasting.

Does fasting count as a habit?

Fasting is tracked separately from habits. You can have both a fasting timer and habit tracking running simultaneously.

What do I get with Premium?

Unlimited habits, all fasting protocols, full history and stats, custom frequencies, interval reminders, and all future features for $60/year.

Can I try Premium before buying?

Yes! Premium includes a free trial period. You can explore all features before your subscription begins.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Go to iPhone Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions → MyDailyTally → Cancel Subscription. You can also manage subscriptions directly in the App Store.

Privacy & Data

Where is my data stored?

All your habit and fasting data is stored locally on your device. We never see it, and it never leaves your phone.

Can I export my data?

Yes! Premium users can export their data as CSV files for backup or analysis in other apps.

What happens if I delete the app?

All your data is permanently deleted. Since we don't store data on servers, we cannot recover it. Make sure to export your data first if you want to keep it.

Does MyDailyTally sync between devices?

Not currently. Each device stores its own data locally. We may add secure sync in the future while maintaining our privacy-first approach.

Troubleshooting

The app is running slowly or crashing

Try restarting the app by swiping up from the bottom of your screen, finding MyDailyTally, and swiping up on it to close. Then reopen the app. If problems persist, restart your iPhone.

My habits aren't showing up

Make sure you're on the Today tab. If habits still don't appear, try pulling down on the screen to refresh, or restart the app.

Notifications aren't working

Go to iPhone Settings → Notifications → MyDailyTally and make sure "Allow Notifications" is enabled. You can also check notification settings within the app.

I can't restore my Premium subscription

Go to Settings within MyDailyTally and tap "Restore Purchases." Make sure you're signed in with the same Apple ID you used to purchase Premium.
